I have tried to start this blog entry a good handful of times with little success. The world is SO serious, and everyone has an opinion on everything. It makes my heart ache and my skin crawl. So this past Friday I went out into the woods to breath. I have always found clarity and calm out in nature where no one else is on top of me. And to share that with my kiddos is one of my favorite things. We spent the afternoon getting lost among the swaying trees. We found patches of baby pine trees fighting to grow. We laid on the ground and watched the tops of the trees sway and bend as they protected us from the strong winds. We listened as the trees squeaked and the leaves rustled sounding like waves crashing and churning on the shores.
Life is fleeting. We are here to make memories and share time with one another. To extend our roots and build a solid foundation like a tree growing up and protecting us from the wind. Until it is our turn to protect others from the wind and let their roots grow and strengthen. And when we are done, the remnants of us left in their memory are there to guide and nourish their souls as they grow to be the protectors. This is the fact of life. No matter who you are or what your opinion this is life. It's also your choice what type of roots you grow and pass on.
